Software Andina Intranet Express is a Web based client/server application.
For this reason, the system requirements fall under 3 categories: Server requirements, Client requirements and network
requirements.
Server requirements
The only product installation is done on the Web Server, which must be running Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000. You will
typically want to install the product on a Server version of the operating system. You can install the product on
Windows NT 4.0 Workstation or Windows 2000 Professional; however, Microsoft limits these operating systems to 10 active
connections, which can be limiting for use as a Web Server.
Prerequisite software
Internet Information Server (IIS, Microsoft's Web Server) must be installed on the server machine prior to installing
Software Andina Intranet Express. For Windows NT 4.0, this is available as a free download from Microsoft. For Windows
2000, this is available as an optional installation on the Windows 2000 installation CD.
In addition, Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.0 or above must be installed on the Server machine prior to
installing Software Andina Intranet Express. This is strictly to provide some updated DLLs to the server and has no
effect on which clients can access the server.
Hardware requirements
Software Andina Intranet Express adds very little additional hardware requirements over that which is required to run
the operating system and the prerequisite software mentioned above. However, Software Andina recommends the following
minimum requirements:
-
Processor: Pentium 200
-
Memory: 64 megabytes
-
Free disk space: 100 megabytes
Client requirements
Software Andina Intranet Express is accessed from the server via a Web browser on the client. Either Internet Explorer
4.0 and above or Netscape Navigator 4.0 and above can be used as the client browser. For example, the following are
possible client configurations:
-
Internet Explorer on a Windows platform
-
Navigator on a Windows platform
-
Internet Explorer on a Mac
-
Navigator on a Mac
-
Navigator on a Linux platform
-
Internet Explorer on a Sun platform
-
Navigator on a Sun platform
-
Navigator on many other platforms
Software Andina Intranet Express utilizes Java, JavaScript and Cookies; therefore these features must not be disabled in
the respective browser.
Network requirements
Software Andina Intranet Express utilizes a standard client server Web based architecture. For this reason, the topology
of the underlying network is transparent to the software. The important factor is that the client and the server can
create a network connection via TCP/IP.
The underlying network may be comprised of 10-Base 2, 10-Base T, 100-Base T, FDDI or any number of network architectures.
Regardless of which network topology is chosen, both the client and the server must be running the TCP/IP network
protocol and the client must be able to establish a network connection with the server.
